February 26, 2007 - "Talk To Your Garden" Class March 9-11th
Tired of the winter weather? Here's your chance to get out and have some fun. The "Learn To Do Downtown" event is back the weekend of March 9-11th. Many downtown Bay City businesses will offer great activities and events.
Little House is offering you a chance to see how easy it is to make your own garden word stones using kits available at our store. You will take home 2 word stones that you create during the class.
There are four time-slots for you to choose:
Class: Talk To Your Garden
Friday, March 9, 2:00.
Saturday, March 10, 11:00, 12:30, and 2:00.
There is a $5.00 fee for the class at the time of sign-up. You will also recieve 10% off the kits on the day of the class. Size is limited, so sign up soon. Call (989-893-6771) or stop into the store to sign-up.

January 9, 2007 - After-Inventory Sale and "Soup & Sales"
The new year is here! The Christmas trees are packed away and the inventory is done. Now the fun begins! We have a huge after-inventory sale in progress right now. This sale includes the event "Soup & Sales" this Saturday, January 13th. On Saturday you will be able to pick a "soup spoon" with a discount amount written on it for a additional percent off of the clearance items. The restaurants in the area will be selling the soup to complete your shopping day. I hope you can stop by to scoop up the great bargains or join us on the 13th.
If you're planning a shopping trip to Downtown Bay City between now and July, 2007, the Veterans Bridge is closed for repairs. Use the Liberty Bridge instead (it's the next bridge North of the Vet's bridge). If you get off I-75 at the Downtown Bay City exit, just follow that (it's Thomas St.) to Euclid and turn left, then turn right on Midland Street. This will take you over the Liberty Bridge. At the bottom of the East side of the bridge, turn right onto Washington. Then you're there; Downtown Bay City!
It's also time for me to go shopping! I will be in Atlanta searching for all the new (and some of the old favorites) in the everyday and holiday lines. Yes you read it correctly, I have to pick out Christmas for 2007! Next time you're in, just ask me what's new.

July 20-22, 2006 - Twilight Treasure Hunt & Sunset Shopping
Join the following stores on the waterfront in downtown Bay City
on Thursday, July 20, Friday, July 21, and Saturday, July 22 during The Tall Ships Celebration.

Friday, March 10 and Saturday, March 11, the downtown merchants are holding the 2nd "Learn To Do Downtown" event. I am doing a demonstration on the photo transfer kits available for purchase at Little House. You can come see how easy it is to create a one-of-a-kind decorative tile, coaster or glass ornament using photos or artwork to make a special keepsake.
The demo will be on Friday, March 10 at 1:00 and 3:00 and Saturday, March 11 at 11:00, 1:00, and 3:00. You must pre-register at the store or by phone. Please call (989)893-6771 to register or to ask any questions.
The Downtown Bay City "Welcome Spring Open House" is scheduled for March 31 and April 1. Come gather ideas from Little House on how to set a Spring Table. Head downtown for a taste of Spring!

Change for Charity
Last year was the first year for the "Change for Charity" jars at the checkout counter. I want to thank you for you generosity. We were able to collect over $600.00 for the Bay Area Women's Center. The jars will be out again this year and the proceeds will go to Created for Caring in Bay City. I will match the first $100 again this year.

June 29, 2005- Sidewalk Sales - and the expansion is done! - Kathy LaLonde (owner)
First off, I want to let you know about the Downtown Bay City Sidewalk Sales!
We'll be set-up outside under our tent and I hope the weather will
cooperate. Don't miss this sale! We are cleaning out the discontinued, last
one left, and well, the "just want to have a sale" items. Even the guys can
make the trip to check out the Downtown "Be Cool" Auto Show on Sat. July 8th.
They're coming up in just one week: July 7-9, 2005. Details on the Calendar.
If you haven't visited Little House recently, you are in for a surprise!
We've completed our remodeling and expansion, almost doubling our size.
The removal of three divider walls, new carpet, paint, and an 8-foot opening
sure can make a difference. I already can't imagine the store without the
added room. Everyone who comes in loves it, so I hope you can stop by soon
to tell us what you think.
The latest in website land is our new Photo Gallery where you'll see some beautiful pictures of our "summer entertaining" section, among
others, and you might even get a peek at the workers opening up the expansion!

January 26, 2005 - Little House is expanding! - Kathy LaLonde (owner)
Starting in February, I will be expanding into the space right next door
to me. We will be cutting an opening between the two stores and giving both
sides a facelift. I'll notify you later when everything is ready (March is
my target date). I can't wait!
You can look forward to a porch/garden area, an office decor area, an
expanded baby/kids section, the very popular beach section, and much more.
And I just returned from my buying trip to Atlanta so new things will be
arriving soon.
I can't wait to see how you like it!

The Open House Game is ready!
Also, this year during the Holiday Season I decided that I wanted to give to a charity. I have a jar at the counter to collect change for the Bay Area Women's Center. It's a domestic violence shelter for women. Last year in the newspaper they printed different charity wish lists and they didn't received any donations, so I wanted to do something for them. I am matching the first $100.00 donated. Please drop your change in the jar when you are at the store.

June 20, 2004 - Sidewalk Sales are coming up. - Kathy LaLonde (owner)
Where oh where has this year gone? I really had the best of intentions to contact you all sooner than this!
I've added some new pictures around the site, so please enjoy those, but the latest news can be found on the calendar.
You'll see that the Sidewalk Sales are coming July 8-10th, and that I'm finalizing the Holiday Open House plans.
Look for more details about that later, but you can mark your calendar already for the new Open House dates; November 12-14, 2004.
And you'll be happy to hear that I will not be closing to prepare for it this year. Too many of you were disappointed when you came into town the week before the Open House last year and we were not open, so I listened, and we'll be open this year.

March 2, 2003 - Tropical Escape from the Snow! - Kathy LaLonde (owner)
If you have stopped by Little House lately you would have noticed some changes. The middle room is being re-decorated (don't worry, the broken china around the door is staying!);
we're putting up new wall colors, and I'm wood-graining the floor. This is the first time I've tried this wood-graining technique and am having a great time.
The only drawback is the drying time, but when it's done it'll be a welcome change.
We are moving the kitchen décor and supplies to that room. New linens and decorative items are coming. The style will be vintage and traditional country.
Stop by and check out the progress of the floor project. Our targeted finished date is March 4th. (Keep your fingers crossed.)

We are bursting with new spring merchandise. The weather may not be feeling like spring but at Little House we are ready. The gift market was in January and I know you will enjoy all the new things coming soon.
Mark your calendar for March 7-9 for our Tropical Escape Weekend. We will be open until 7:00 p.m. on that Friday night along with two other shops on Water Street. More news about the weekend will follow so plan on cruising in for savings and tropical fun.

October 29, 2002 - The current state of affairs. - Kathy LaLonde (owner)
At the beginning of 2002 I took over Little House on my own. It has been an exciting first year, one of many changes and learning experiences. After a face-lift to the interior, I added a computer system to keep track of inventory and sales. That has been the biggest challenge for my employees, but we are all learning together. I think it is the best thing I could have done, and it saves so much time.
We continue to mix antiques into the displays. Many dealers bring in antiques on consignment, but I also enjoy going to estate sales to pick up unique things to add to the mix. We do the displays in what we call "decorative setting" hoping to show you how you can do the same in your home. As for the new decorating items, I travel to gift markets twice a year to buy new and exciting items to share with you. The market trends are constantly changing and it's fun to see what's new each year.
