Happy New Year!
Thank you for your support in 2009 by shopping at Little House.
A loyal customer once told me "What a nice shop. It makes you feel like you can afford to shop here." It's comments like this that let me know I am doing what I set out to do in my shop. I always wanted to give my customers unique affordable home decor and gifts for all occasions.
I am leaving for the gift show this week. I can't wait to see what new and exciting products are waiting for me.

December 2009 News:
Take time to enjoy the season and let Little House help you get ready for the holidays. We will make it more fun than shopping at the mall with free gift wrapping, friendly staff, and parking at the door. And don't worry, the parking is free all day, just ask for your parking pass in the store. We'll even have the warm cider on just for you.
Stop by to see our entry in the Gel Gem Window Contest. We were invited by the company to participate in this year's contest. The theme is "Celebrate the Season". For those who do not know what Gel Gems are, they are colorful gel shapes that adhere to glass.
When the box came we were very surprized to open it and find the 48 packages of Gel Gems to use for the contest. They were giant purple flowers, bugs, shamrocks, angels, skyscrapers, small flowers, and strips of colors. What was this??? After reviewing last year's winners we were pleased to learn the shapes were not the important part, it was the colors. No red or white for Santa or snowmen!!! What were we to do?
It was a group decision to do a large stained glass window with a large purple glowing candle. It's all done and the photo of our creation is entered. The deadline is December 5th. I'm not sure how many entries get to the voting stage, but you can watch their news http://www.gelgems.com/News/ (currently shows last year's winner) and even join their Gel manic club to find out soon via email how you can vote. Good news! I'm a grandma! Jack Emerson LaLonde was born Monday, October 19th to my son, Brad and his wife, Kate in Columbus, OH. Congratulations to Brad and Kate!

I still want more warm fall weather! Where did that go?
It's October and the delivery man is very busy. Guess what's in the boxes! Yes, Christmas decorations! The way the weather is changing it will feel like the Holiday season very soon. We are making plans for a great Holiday Open House.
Another event planned in downtown Bay City is the Diva Weekend, Oct 9 & 10. If you have not attended the "Cocktails in The City" on Friday and the "Fashion and French Toast" on Saturday, you should check it out. June 2009 News:
Summer means events in Downtown Bay City. The first will be the Art Fair, Saturday, June 13th,10-6 & Sunday, June 14th, 11-4.
During the Art Fair, Little House will be open Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 11-5 (We continue to stay open till 7 pm on Fridays).
We have several fun gifts for Father's Day, like books and garden art. We even have cookie cutters to make dad a cookie in shapes of neckties, tools, or sports.

Friday October 10, 5:00 - 7:00 at the new Pere Marquette Depot (between Madison and Adams near 5th)
This will be a new twist on this event. We will have an accessory fashion show during the entire two hours. Sample appetizers from local restaurants while enjoying a drink from the cash bar. Be sure to bring a friend. Tickets are $5 each or two for $8.
Fashion & French Toast
Saturday October 11, 9:00-11:00 at the Atrium (1100 N Water)
This is our third time for another great fashion show held at the Atrium Restaurant. Tickets are \$18.00.

February 27, 2008 - Downtown Bay City "Welcome Spring" this weekend, March 1-2.
Runs Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday Noon-5pm
The weather might not feel like it, but you can exercise your spring fever with a visit to Downtown Bay City. Little House will join more than 40 shops and eateries as each hosts their own special "Welcome Spring" Open House with sales and activities.
At Little House, you can come check out our new spring merchandise. We'll also have a game to guess the number of jelly beans in a jar to win a Little House gift certificate!

P.S. I had a little setback last Wednesday; a broken wrist, a little surgery for that, and now some pretty good pain. We'll do all right, but you might not see me at the store all weekend!
November 1, 2007 - The Christmas Season is in full swing at Little House!
I have more Holiday decorations than ever before and I can't wait for you to enjoy them. As usual, we will celebrate the Open House with free gifts, food samplings, and discounts on the new Christmas ornaments. I hope you can make it to Little House November 2-4. Special Open House hours are Friday 10am-8pm, Saturday 10am-6pm, and Sunday 11am-5pm.

September 17, 2007 - "World Expressions Pottery" is now in!
I am so excited about the new line of Expression pottery I just recieved!

April 24, 2007 - Upcoming Summer 2007 Events
I wanted to make sure you heard about the exciting new events coming to downtown Bay City.
The first is called Downtown Divas and it's happening on May 3-6. Visit www.downtownbaycity.com/DowntownDivas.htm where you can see the complete schedule and prices. I have the tote and tickets for the brunch fashion show and the cocktail party available for sale at Little House. Several businesses have donated prizes for both of these events. The tote is a great bag for travel, shopping, or summer fun. It is filled with coupons and gifts from about 30 different businesses. We are planning this event twice a year. The fall Diva weekend is planned for September 20-23. Hope you can make it for our first one in May. Just call me if you have any questions (989) 893-6771.
Next, several business are joining together to create "First Fridays". That means on the first Friday of every month we will be open until 8:00 p.m. I have our new flyer in my store with the list of those participating at this time. We hope the list will grow as the word gets out. So don't forget... First Friday's, we'll be there for you.
Finally, another great event is our Customer Appreciation Weekend, May 18-20. Participating businesses will be rolling out the red carpet for you in Downtown Bay City. At Little House you will find our continued great service and wonderful new merchandise.

February 26, 2007 - "Talk To Your Garden" Class March 9-11th
Tired of the winter weather? Here's your chance to get out and have some fun. The "Learn To Do Downtown" event is back the weekend of March 9-11th. Many downtown Bay City businesses will offer great activities and events.
Little House is offering you a chance to see how easy it is to make your own garden word stones using kits available at our store. You will take home 2 word stones that you create during the class.
There are four time-slots for you to choose:

Saturday, March 10, 11:00, 12:30, and 2:00.

January 9, 2007 - After-Inventory Sale and "Soup & Sales"
The new year is here! The Christmas trees are packed away and the inventory is done. Now the fun begins! We have a huge after-inventory sale in progress right now. This sale includes the event "Soup & Sales" this Saturday, January 13th. On Saturday you will be able to pick a "soup spoon" with a discount amount written on it for a additional percent off of the clearance items. The restaurants in the area will be selling the soup to complete your shopping day. I hope you can stop by to scoop up the great bargains or join us on the 13th.
If you're planning a shopping trip to Downtown Bay City between now and July, 2007, the Veterans Bridge is closed for repairs. Use the Liberty Bridge instead (it's the next bridge North of the Vet's bridge). If you get off I-75 at the Downtown Bay City exit, just follow that (it's Thomas St.) to Euclid and turn left, then turn right on Midland Street. This will take you over the Liberty Bridge. At the bottom of the East side of the bridge, turn right onto Washington. Then you're there; Downtown Bay City!
It's also time for me to go shopping! I will be in Atlanta searching for all the new (and some of the old favorites) in the everyday and holiday lines. Yes you read it correctly, I have to pick out Christmas for 2007! Next time you're in, just ask me what's new.

Friday, March 10 and Saturday, March 11, the downtown merchants are holding the 2nd "Learn To Do Downtown" event. I am doing a demonstration on the photo transfer kits available for purchase at Little House. You can come see how easy it is to create a one-of-a-kind decorative tile, coaster or glass ornament using photos or artwork to make a special keepsake.
The demo will be on Friday, March 10 at 1:00 and 3:00 and Saturday, March 11 at 11:00, 1:00, and 3:00. You must pre-register at the store or by phone. Please call (989)893-6771 to register or to ask any questions.

June 29, 2005- Sidewalk Sales - and the expansion is done! - Kathy LaLonde (owner)
First off, I want to let you know about the Downtown Bay City Sidewalk Sales!
We'll be set-up outside under our tent and I hope the weather will
cooperate. Don't miss this sale! We are cleaning out the discontinued, last
one left, and well, the "just want to have a sale" items. Even the guys can
make the trip to check out the Downtown "Be Cool" Auto Show on Sat. July 8th.

If you haven't visited Little House recently, you are in for a surprise!
We've completed our remodeling and expansion, almost doubling our size.
The removal of three divider walls, new carpet, paint, and an 8-foot opening
sure can make a difference. I already can't imagine the store without the
added room. Everyone who comes in loves it, so I hope you can stop by soon
to tell us what you think.
The latest in website land is our new Photo Gallery where you'll see some beautiful pictures of our "summer entertaining" section, among
others, and you might even get a peek at the workers opening up the expansion!

January 26, 2005 - Little House is expanding! - Kathy LaLonde (owner)
Starting in February, I will be expanding into the space right next door
to me. We will be cutting an opening between the two stores and giving both
sides a facelift. I'll notify you later when everything is ready (March is
my target date). I can't wait!
You can look forward to a porch/garden area, an office decor area, an
expanded baby/kids section, the very popular beach section, and much more.
And I just returned from my buying trip to Atlanta so new things will be
arriving soon.

Also, this year during the Holiday Season I decided that I wanted to give to a charity. I have a jar at the counter to collect change for the Bay Area Women's Center. It's a domestic violence shelter for women. Last year in the newspaper they printed different charity wish lists and they didn't received any donations, so I wanted to do something for them. I am matching the first $100.00 donated. Please drop your change in the jar when you are at the store.

Where oh where has this year gone? I really had the best of intentions to contact you all sooner than this!
I've added some new pictures around the site, so please enjoy those, but the latest news can be found on the calendar.
You'll see that the Sidewalk Sales are coming July 8-10th, and that I'm finalizing the Holiday Open House plans.
Look for more details about that later, but you can mark your calendar already for the new Open House dates; November 12-14, 2004.
And you'll be happy to hear that I will not be closing to prepare for it this year. Too many of you were disappointed when you came into town the week before the Open House last year and we were not open, so I listened, and we'll be open this year.

March 2, 2003 - Tropical Escape from the Snow! - Kathy LaLonde (owner)
If you have stopped by Little House lately you would have noticed some changes. The middle room is being re-decorated (don't worry, the broken china around the door is staying!);
we're putting up new wall colors, and I'm wood-graining the floor. This is the first time I've tried this wood-graining technique and am having a great time.
The only drawback is the drying time, but when it's done it'll be a welcome change.
We are moving the kitchen décor and supplies to that room. New linens and decorative items are coming. The style will be vintage and traditional country.
Stop by and check out the progress of the floor project. Our targeted finished date is March 4th. (Keep your fingers crossed.)

October 29, 2002 - The current state of affairs. - Kathy LaLonde (owner)
At the beginning of 2002 I took over Little House on my own. It has been an exciting first year, one of many changes and learning experiences. After a face-lift to the interior, I added a computer system to keep track of inventory and sales. That has been the biggest challenge for my employees, but we are all learning together. I think it is the best thing I could have done, and it saves so much time.
We continue to mix antiques into the displays. Many dealers bring in antiques on consignment, but I also enjoy going to estate sales to pick up unique things to add to the mix. As for the new decorating items, I travel to gift markets twice a year to buy new and exciting items to share with you. The market trends are constantly changing and it's fun to see what's new each year.
